At the heart of the Fortnite universe lies the Zero Point, a source of infinite energy capable of rewriting reality. The Loop was originally forged by the Imagined Order (IO) as a containment protocol to stabilize and control the Zero Point. Later, the Last Reality, led by the Cube Queen, attempted to exploit and corrupt the Loop for their own purposes, but they did not create it. Loopers are pulled from across dimensions and forced to compete, but they are not blank slates: while most have their memories wiped upon respawn, rare exceptions—such as Jonesy and Peely—have retained memories in specific narrative contexts, driven by plot rather than a general rule. The Storm is a natural or engineered hazard that eliminates players, but reality resets are caused by the Zero Point or the Loop itself, not the Storm. Anomalies occur where certain entities manipulate the cycle, hinting that the Loop is far from perfect.
